the adventure continues:- trying really bloody hard for the first time in over a year………..a project finally!

Today was a truly great day. I can honestly say today I, for the first time in over 12 months tried really really bloody hard. It was 7:30am and we were walking into Iannis sector to get on a few routes there including my current project Sevasti. I was a little tired and hadn’t really woken up but I was walking up the semi-steep slope to the crag feeling motivated and focussed.

We warmed up on “Kalyne” a nice 6b that was about 25 metres long and good climbing for the grade. Then it was time to dig deep and get my game on. It was time to get on my 7b (25) project. I tied in, popped on my shoes and I was a little anxious to say the least.
As I pulled on to the wall I remembered just how hard this route was all the way through. It is steep and unforgiving from the ground to the anchors.

I climbed this line four times today, each time trying equally as hard if not harder with each attempt. I fell off it four times, twice pulling through the crux, once my right foot popped and on the first shot came off under the crux.  Today I was successful in learning how to project a route. I also learned about strategy, including how to get the best rests possible where I could. I am super happy about it and it is all part of the learning process.

I have been trying harder routes for the past three months and I am definitely improving and getting stronger. My technique has taken major leaps forward and I feel more confident than I ever have……………….digging deep and going for it have never felt this good and I am psyched.
