I have had a home base in a little village called Oberhaching just outside of Munich for the last three months. I, have not been there very much at all. It has been a place provided by two of my best friends Paul-Matthieu and Erin. They have provided me with a landing pad when I had no where else to go and we have enjoyed the time we have had together immensely.
We have been to Zillertal climbing, Kochel climbing and swimming, the Alsace region of France together to be with Paul-Mattieu’s family and also funnily enough to go climbing. My this is all very singular in its tone of experience. This is however not entirely true. I have travelled to Switzerland, France, Greece, Austria, Spain and Liechtenstein and back to Germany. Europe thus far has been an experience I will never forget.
I have enjoyed the people and the culture of each of the places I have entered. I wish I didn’t have to go but I do. My visa runs out today and I cannot return for 90 days. As I sit in Munich airport and recall the last three months I would be remiss to say “I have done Europe”. I have right now only touched the tip of the iceberg and I will be back for more adventures.
To all the people I have met during my travels in Europe a resounding THANK YOU!!!! to you all for making my stay one to remember for the rest of my life. You have all contributed to making me a stronger, fitter, well travelled, more informed, open-minded and overall a better person.
I embarked on this journey a broken and damaged man and right now I sit here teary eyed thinking of how wonderful I feel and how far I have come since leaving home six and a half months ago. I still have a long way to go and much more to see……….so its onwards and upwards as I embark on the next part of my journey.
Goodbye Europe………..Hello Africa!………well for a fortnight anyway. Stay tuned folks it is only the beginning.
